rkeefe66: As a writer, performer, teacher, and wanderer on the planet, I'm curious about what lies around the corner. I’ve retired from my lifetime work as a professor of women’s studies and English at various institutions around the world (full resume available). In July 2006, my partner Doris and I settled in Corrales, New Mexico, in the glow of the Sandia Mountains. I taught women and creativity for UNM and memoir writing at Meadowlark Senior Center and performed Mabel Dodge Luhan for NM Humanities Council. In April 2010 when I turned 70, I discovered I had pulmonary fibrosis. In May 2011 when it became too difficult to breathe at 5000 feet, I moved to Florida where my daughter Lisa lives. Now in spring 2012 Doris and I have moved to Durham, North Carolina, where I'm awaiting a lung transplant at Duke Medical Center. When I can breathe more easily with donor lungs, I'll resume writing my memoirs, enjoying creative arts, and rejoining the world of activism.
